Instructions belong in a board-game box -- not in your romantic relationship. It's important to do things your own way -- and yes, that may include making your own mistakes. If other people are giving you unwanted advice, thank them. And then ignore them. They may have the very best intentions, but they are not you. Right now, you need to follow your gut (and your heart). Do what feels right, and be prepared to live with (and grow from) the consequences.
